American Canyon

The City of American Canyon, with its picturesque backdrop of rural rolling agricultural hills, is located in southern Napa County. This is the SF Bay Area’s entry point to the Napa and Sonoma Valley wineries, areas internationally recognized for producing some of the world’s finest wines. The median selling price of a single family home in American Canyon (as of September 2020) is about $625,000.

A permanent green belt surrounds much of the City, including the Napa River and a 500-acre wetlands preserve to the west, the 640-acre Jack and Bernice Newell Wilderness Preserve to the east, and vineyard-covered foothills of the Sulphur Springs Mountains to the northeast. The Napa County Airport adjoins the City on the north, and the City of Vallejo is adjacent on the south. Major highways include Highway 29 that runs north and south through the City, and Highway 12, which connects with I-80 about three miles to the east and Sonoma County to the west. Currently the City is 6 square miles. 

American Canyon is located approximately 40 miles northeast of San Francisco. We are within proximity of some of the finest institutions, such as the University of California (U.C.) campuses at Berkeley (30 miles), San Francisco (42 miles) and Davis (41 miles); and within close proximity to Tuoro University (8 miles). We are conveniently located 42 miles from the Oakland International Airport (OAK), 50 miles from the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and 60 miles from the Sacramento International Airport (SMF).

Out of peak hours, San Francisco to the southwest and Sacramento to the north-east are each less than one hour’s drive on I-80. Two miles south of American Canyon, Highway 37 goes west over to Novato, Marin County where it joins with Highway 101, an alternative route to San Francisco via the Golden Gate Bridge.
